Connection request
A LinkedIn invitation, optionally with a note, and the scarcest resource in social selling.
Invitations are rate limited by LinkedIn, and the limit is lower than most tools imply: roughly 20–25 a day for an established account and far fewer for a new one. Exceeding it restricts the account, and the account belongs to you rather than to the tool.
An unaccepted invitation cannot be followed up, because you cannot message somebody who has not accepted. That makes it structurally different from an email that went unanswered.
What GTM does about it
The ramp is enforced by default: 5 a day in week one, 10 to day 30, 20 to day 60, then your own limit, with an attestation escape hatch for genuinely old accounts. Unaccepted after fourteen days is marked lost.
