Intent data

Observed behaviour suggesting a buyer is in market. Content consumed, roles hired for, topics engaged with.

Intent data splits into first-party (behaviour on your own properties), second-party (a publisher's audience) and third-party (aggregated web behaviour). Third-party intent is usually company-level and probabilistic: it tells you an account is researching a topic, not that a person is.

The failure mode is treating intent as a score you can buy rather than as evidence with a timestamp. Intent that is not dated is a guess dressed as a signal, because the whole value of it is recency.

What GTM does about it

Heat on a contact only ever moves on something observed: a reply, a keyword match in the last 72 hours, a reaction to a matching post, or fourteen days of silence pulling it back down. A reaction the vendor returns without a timestamp is dropped rather than dated today.
