Glossary
Bounce rate
The share of sends rejected by the receiving server. Hard for permanent failures, soft for temporary ones.
Hard bounces mean the address does not exist and must be suppressed immediately. Soft bounces are full mailboxes, greylisting and rate limits, and should be retried a small number of times.
The number to watch is not the rate but the trend. A sudden rise on one sender usually means a list problem or a reputation event, and continuing to send through it makes both worse.
What GTM does about it
Deliverability is scored per sender from real delivery events. A bounce or complaint spike re-anchors the ramp automatically and raises an alert that names the numbers and the next action.
